In this class, we will be using Microsoft Teams for parts of the course.

To join, please follow these instructions.

To begin, you will need the Join Code from the course instructor (email or course website). If you don’t have this, please check your email, the course webpage, or contact the instructor.

Steps To install Microsoft Teams and Turn on “New Meeting Experience”:

1. Log in to the University’s Office 365 with your University email address to access Teams:
   • Visit https://www.office.com/
   • Log in with your University email address.
     • If you are signed in to a personal account, sign out, then sign in with your University email address.
   • Click “Teams”
   • Click “Get the (Windows/Mac/Linux) App”
     • Notes
       • It is not recommended to use the web app instead
       • If you don’t see the download link, this is the direct link
2. Install Teams, then Sign In with your university email address
   • Please note: it is important to access Teams with your University email address to prevent “zoom-bombing”, and also some features are disabled for “guest” users
3. Join the Class Team
   • Your instructor would have provided a “Join Code”. You will need this now.
   • In the top left of the Microsoft Teams app, click on “Teams”
   • In the top right, click on “Join or Create a Team”
   • You will see the option to “Join a Team with a Code”.
   • Enter the code and press Join Team.
4. Enable all “New Meeting Experience” features:
   If you skip this step, you can still use Teams, but you won’t get the optional features like “Large Gallery View” or “Together Mode”
   • Click your initials in the top right of the screen, then Click Settings
   • Make sure to check the box for “Turn on new meeting experience (New meetings and calls will open in separate windows. Requires restarting Teams.)”
   • Right-click or Cmd-click the Teams icon in the Windows task bar or Mac System Tray, then Select Quit.
   • Start Teams again, and it is ready to go!
